Montgomery County Educational Service Center is pleased to announce the addition of
Susan Gunnell to the MCESC staff. Gunnell, former Superintendent of Huber Heights City
Schools, will be joining the MCESC team as the Director of its Regional Center.
“I’m very excited to be joining the MCESC team as Director of the Regional Center,” Gunnell
said. “I have over twenty years of experience supporting educators, parents and students in
providing services for students with disabilities and I look forward to continuing that mission in
my new role at the MCESC.”
The MCESC Regional Center is home to many student services and supports in special education
including physical and occupational therapy, hearing, vision, and orientation & mobility. The
Autism Coaching Team and Education Assessment Team are also housed at the MCESC
Gunnell, who holds a master’s degree from the University of Dayton in School Psychology,
served the Huber Heights School District for the past 34 years starting as the district’s school
psychologist. She also worked as a supervisor of special education and as the Director of
Student Services before being named Superintendent, a post she held for the past seven years.
“We are grateful to have someone with such an extensive background rooted in Special
Education join our team to lead the Regional Center’s operations,” Shannon Cox, MCESC
Associate Superintendent said.
